EVENT DETAILS:
Where: Bingo Palace in Virginia Beach
When: Saturdays, 12 pm to 5:30 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5:30 pm
Location: Bingo Palace, 444 South Lynnhaven Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
How to sign-up:
(1) Select the Date and Shift you would to volunteer through the Volunteer Hampton Roads platform.
(2) Complete the Requirements:
- Individuals aged 14 and older are welcome (14 - 17 years old must have a parent or legal guardian present).
For volunteers aged 14 to 17, a parent or legal guardian must be present during your shift, and parents or guardians can sign up through Volunteer Hampton Roads. To get started, please complete our REACH Bingo Volunteer Form by clicking on this link: https://form.jotform.com/231776971754066. Please note that volunteers must meet certain eligibility criteria, including having no misdemeanors involving cash or theft and no felonies of any kind. We'll manually sign up your daughter once your volunteer shift is completed.
For volunteers under the age of 18, guardians must fill out this form: https://form.jotform.com/231235563682154.
Both Parent/Guardian and Child must fill out Video & Photo Release Form: https://form.jotform.com/211795974701161.
Required Forms: Please ensure that you have completed the REACH Bingo Volunteer Form along with signing up on Volunteer Hampton Roads. If you are signing up for multiple bingo sessions on Volunteer Hampton Roads, you only need to complete the REACH Bingo Volunteer form once.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- VERY IMPORTANT: Please uphold your volunteer commitment. It is imperative that REACH upholds our agreement with the Bingo hall and our customers in running a successful Bingo session. We kindly ask that you allow 48 hours advance notice in the event you must withdrawal from the opportunity to give us time to try and cover your shift.
- Check-in: Please head to the large Bingo Sales Counter near the main entrance of the building. You will receive your volunteer lanyard and be given your training overview which starts promptly at 12PM on Saturday and 11AM Sunday. Please be sure to sign in to the volunteer binder prior to starting your shift. Please have a valid ID on your person, as this is a state gaming activity that requires all persons to have a valid ID on them at all times.
- Dress Code: Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Sweatshirts, coats, and jackets are not permitted to be worn in cash handling positions. Please refrain from wearing inappropriate clothing such as items with offensive language or imagery, excessively revealing attire, or anything that could be considered disrespectful.
- Duties: This is a dynamic setting, and tasks involve handling money, interacting with customers, and standing or walking for extended periods. Roles as cashiers or instant clerks based on needs; specific roles not guaranteed. Training will be provided on site. There is a designated smoking area inside the hall where you might be requested to sell tickets for short periods. You don't have to stay there for an extended time. Masks are optional.
- Meals and Breaks: Breaks are scheduled at approximately 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm, each lasting for 15 minutes. Bingo money and items must be given to a REACH leader prior to taking your break/s. Additional breaks, when needed, are available. REACH will provide water and snacks, but you are welcome to bring your own. The bingo hall also has a snack bar available, as well as vending machines.
- What to avoid: Please ensure that you do not bring any cash or valuable items with you. REACH cannot be held responsible for any lost or missing belongings. Headphones are not permitted.
- Recognition and Community Service Letters: REACH requires a minimum of SIX (6) combined volunteer hours for service letters. Please email Dr. Jennifer Goff with your request and allow 2-3 business days for letter preparation.
- Required Forms: Please ensure that you have completed the REACH Bingo Volunteer Form. If you are signing up for multiple bingo sessions, you only need to complete these forms once.
- Reminder: Virginia State law does not allow any person to volunteer in charitable gaming who has a misdemeanor related to cash or theft, and/or any type of felony.
