*Please note that only nonprofit organizations in at least their third year of operation can recruit board candidates.

Become a Member
To become a new member follow the instructions below. Your membership will be valid for one year upon receipt of payment. Payment plans are available upon request.
Step 1: If this is the first time your organization has partnered with us fill out and submit the Organization Sign Up.
Step 2: Request an invoice for the membership fee here.
Step 3: VHR staff will set up a meeting to review our membership package and answer any questions.
After completing the above steps, a staff member will contact you with more information.
Renew Membership
VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads will notify you during the final month of your membership with information on how you can renew. To renew your membership, please respond to one of these emails or request an invoice here.

When does VOLUNTEER Hampton Road accept new members?
VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads accepts new members all year (on a rolling basis), so this process can go as quickly or take as long as your organization needs it to.
Does my membership automatically renew?
No, VHR will notify you during the final month of your membership with information on how you can renew. Please see the “Renew your Membership” section above for more information.
Do you offer discounted or sponsored membership?
Our corporate partners often want to sponsor nonprofit memberships or send students to our Volunteer Engagement Training Series. If you are interested in a training series or a nonprofit membership but are worried about the fees. Please contact us, to inquire about any open scholarships.
Do you offer a “one-time” posting fee?
No, VHR does not offer a one-time posting fee for our website. We have elected to keep access to our partner portal exclusive to our nonprofit members and do not offer nonmembers the ability to post on our site.
How soon before an event do you recommend posting a volunteer opportunity?
For scheduled “one-time” events we recommend having them up on our website at least one month in advance. For example, VHR’s Family Volunteer Day scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23rd, 2024, would need to be up on our website no later than Wednesday, Oct. 23rd, 2024.
For scheduled “recurring” events we recommend releasing/posting occurrences one month in advance. For example, releasing all of your March occurrences at the beginning or middle of February. *This is to help combat no-shows. We often find that Volunteers who need hours will sign up for events several months in advance and are not able to commit to the date once it gets closer.

Yes! You can add new team members to your organization’s partner portal at any time. See our Partner Portal FAQ section for more information.
If you no longer have access to your organization's partner portal, you can request new contacts here.
We are also happy to host a training/refresher course on the partner portal (online database) for anyone who needs it!
