The Big Free Bookstore Support

📚🌟 Join Hands in Fostering Literacy at REACH, Inc.! 🌟📚

At REACH, Inc. (Reading Enriches All Children), our commitment to spreading the joy of reading and literacy across Coastal Virginia is stronger than ever. With a resounding impact, we contributed over $500,000 worth of valuable resources just last year.

📚 What's in Store:

We're excited to announce the launch of our FREE bookstore at JANAF Shopping Yard, and we're in search of passionate volunteers to extend a warm welcome and support families and children visiting the store. Your role will involve aiding with REACH merchandise sales, restocking bookshelves with an array of new and gently used books and ensuring an enriching experience for all.

How to Sign-up:

(1) Select the Date and Shift you want to volunteer through the Volunteer Hampton Roads platform.
(2) Complete the Requirements:

-This opportunity is open to individuals aged 16 and older. (Volunteers between 16 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during their shift.)

- REACH Volunteer Form: https://form.jotform.com/210757144140144

-Video & Photo Release Form: https://form.jotform.com/211795974701161

-Complete and pass a level 2 background check through Sterling Volunteers. This is essential as you'll be working closely with our reading and children’s programs. You can initiate your background check through this link: https://www.sterlingvolunteers.com/about/get-started/. Our exclusive Good Deed Code, "g0o76l2," grants you an organizational discount, reducing the cost to only $13.00. We recommend that you copy and paste the code.

We appreciate your understanding that no volunteer can have a misdemeanor involving cash or theft, and absolutely no felonies of any kind. By registering, you affirm your compliance with these standards.

Upon fulfilling all requirements, you'll receive further details about your volunteer event. Please be aware that entry to the event will only be granted if the requirements are completed and verified.

💌 Recognition and Service Letters:

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1st, 2023, in order to provide you with accurate and meaningful service letters, we have established a minimum requirement of SIX (6) combined service hours. If your volunteer hours amount to 6 hours or less, you will have the convenience of obtaining a printout directly from Volunteer Hampton Roads, a platform through which you register for our opportunities.

To ensure a smooth and efficient process, we kindly request that same-day service letter requests not be submitted. Instead, please allow a window of 2-3 business hours for us to prepare your service letter. This time frame will enable us to verify your service hours and craft a comprehensive letter that duly acknowledges your commitment.

For any additional queries or information, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Ella Roque, Volunteer & Program Coordinator (eroque@reachreads.org), or Dr. Jennifer Goff, Executive Director (jgoff@reachreads.org). Feel free to connect with us via phone at 757-627-4722.

Your dedication holds the power to transform lives through literacy. Let's come together to make a significant impact
