Trans Family Dinner Volunteers Needed in Hampton Roads
Are you passionate about fostering connections within the trans community and creating a warm, inclusive space for trans individuals, their families, and allies? The Calos Coalition is a Virginia Beach based 501(c)(3) nonprofit seeking dedicated volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the lives of trans families. Join us as a Trans Family Dinner Volunteer and contribute to the creation of a supportive community through our monthly gathering.
As a Trans Family Dinner Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our dinner events are not only enjoyable but also family-friendly and affirming for people of all ages and backgrounds. Your responsibilities may include assisting with event setup, welcoming attendees, helping with meal service, engaging with children and families, and fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding.
Volunteers will also be responsible for upholding our community guidelines to ensure a safe and affirming space for everyone. As this role may involve working with children, a background check is required, with exclusions only for relevant criminal histories.
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm and a friendly, inclusive demeanor.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on creating a family-friendly environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, especially in a setting involving children and families.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- A passion for fostering connections within the trans community and creating inclusive spaces for trans families.
- Completion of a background check.
Time Commitment
Trans Family Dinner Volunteers are needed on the third Sunday of every month from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm. We encourage volunteers to allocate some time before their first volunteer date for orientation to familiarize themselves with our standards and programs.
